Fairy Magic is Contagious… From Master Thatcher to Fairy Door Maker…

Sorry we have been so quiet this year but as many of you are aware it has been an exceptionally difficult and sad year with the sudden loss of Tony, one of the founders of Celtic Fairy Doors and our chief fairy door maker. Tony loved this business and had never been as happy as when creating and designing our range of fairy doors, it was his wish that his work should continue, however that lead to some huge challenges and some big changes.

Celtic Fairy Doors is lucky enough to now have a new master craft’s man who has taken up Tony’s mantle as chief fairy door maker, we are thrilled to welcome Olly to our team.  Olly whose family comes from the East Coast of Ireland and Scotland started his career in Landscape construction creating the most amazing gardens, landscapes and even speedway tracks !! then spent the next 36 years thatching

working on jobs all over the world, he taught Tony how to thatch and the two of them had many thatching adventures over the years including working on  the Merriman in Kinvara in December where amongst a lot of hard work a huge amount of fun was had in the local pubs.

Olly was Tony’s best friend for over 30 years, the two of them enjoyed so many of the same things, they were definitely double trouble when together and you never knew quiet what the two of them were planning. Olly introduced Tony to hot air ballooning and Tony introduced Olly to the highlights of The Cotswolds Olympics – Robert Dover’s Games, which resulted in 3 broken ribs for Olly while on 4 man ski’s on the side of the hill !

Olly has remained a huge part of our life over the last 24 years

and it was hugely important to him that the work and vision Tony had for Celtic Fairy Doors would not be lost, which is why he decided to complete the circle and learn how to pick up Tony’s mantle and become a part of Celtic Fairy Doors. Olly brings his skill as a master crafts man, ambition to take it to new heights and love of his great friend Tony to the table meaning that we can continue in our business. Our products are still Irish inspired, Irish Designed but are now manufactured in both Ireland and the UK.

We can still be found in Chapel Lane Market in Ennis most Saturdays, as well as many new fairs and markets in the UK. We are busy planning for an exciting year next year with new ranges, products and venues, so watch this space….

In the meantime please welcome Olly to our team….
